Disciplinary Actions:
Disciplinary actions will be based on the game-day referee report. If no referee officiated the game, the League Commissioner and or Director of League Operations will interview volunteer(s) officials and both team coaches to determine possible league actions. Both League President and Director of League Operations shall have the authority to suspend or disqualify any team official(s), player(s), or competing teams(s), who may be proven guilty of breaching any Articles of the League or for any action or conduct not in the best interest of soccer or the YPSL.
NOTE: The YPSL has a zero-tolerance policy towards ANY type of behavior that undermines the leagues overall mission. Any use of profanity towards referee’s, spectators and opposing players will be severely dealt with by the YSPL leadership as will what the YPSL perceives to be violent and overly aggressive behavior by ANY player.
Discipline Appeals Committe:
1. Consists of five (5) individuals to hear Appeals as designated by the YPSL President:
a. President
b. Director of League Operations
c. Regional Commisioner
d. Referee Coordinator (If designated)
2. Appeals should be made in writing directly to the President within 24 hours of the conclusion of the penalty being imposed.
3. A $300.00 bond should accompany each Appeal and be paid in advance of the Appeal being reviewed by the Committee.
4. Appeals should be no longer than two pages in length, single-spaced and typed. Photos and videos may be remitted and are encouraged.
5. The Appeals Committee should rule within 72 hours of receipt of the Appeal.
6. If the Appeal is successful, the Team and/or Individual remitting the $300.00 bond will have it returned to the requested address postmarked via traditional U.S. Mail within five (5) business days.
Cautions (YELLOW CARDS):
The following suspensions will be imposed to players for multiple cautions received during course of one season, including playoffs:
- 4 Cautions: 1 Game Suspension
- 8 Cautions: 2 Additional Games Suspension
- 12 Cautions: 3 Additional Games Suspension
Send Offs (RED CARDS):
A player, coach, or bench personnel sent off by the referee must leave the facility area immediately and may not return until the conclusion of the game and both teams have cleared the playing surface. The referee’s Send Off Report will be forwarded to the YPSL for review and adjudication.
Serving Send Off (RED CARD SUSPENSION):
Any sendoff needs to be documented on the game stat-sheet and will incur a minimum of one (1) game suspension, which must be served in the next scheduled YPSL game, including post season play. The YPSL reserves the right to apply further penalties depending on the severity of the actions.
Final Regular Season Game Send off:
Any player or coach sent off in a final regular season match must serve the suspension in the first playoff match, unless the season is over, in which case the suspension will be served in the team’s first YPSL game the following season.
Disparaging Comments:
Players, coaches, and team officials may not disparage referees, opposing players/staff, referee decisions, league disciplinary decisions or the league under ANY circumstance this includes; team websites, blogs, or and social media channels.
Moral Turpitude:
Any employee, player or official of any member club or the YPSL who shall be convicted of a felony, or who shall have been found by the YPSL to have conducted themselves in a manner detrimental to the best interests of soccer or the YPSL, may be declared by the YPSL to be suspended for such period of time shall deem to be appropriate.
